Latest COOLING: ❄️ Joseph D. Grant Park
Hendy Woods SP
❄️ COOLED:
April 19-21, 2024
HENDY WOODS! You’ve come highly recommended for these many years, and finally: we have made our way to camp within your state park.
Though we did not set up a hermitage we enjoyed our LX 8 BIG TENT ⛺️, great weather, crafts, and nearby cider 🍏.
We will surely COOL you again!❄️
The Goodness
- Wildlife: Slug fest, grey fox, bear warning (but no sighting!) 🧸
- Good weather, no wind
- Crafting: creating COOLMOVES badges with Ivan’s new button maker 🎨
- Apple cider: Gowan’s Heirloom Ciders, hard ciders for grownups; regular cider is apparently crack for babies 🍎💉
Food Achievements
- Schlorp festival but used metal mugs for schlorp
- Phoebe loved little smokeys
- Phoebe loved cheese stick 🧀 and cheese and salami
- Phoebe loved Flamin’ Hot Doritos 🌶️
Things Learned
- Bug in pajamas! Ali woke up to something crawling around in her pajama shirt. IT WAS A BUG! It gave a creepy feeling that didn’t go away for hours! Ick! 🐞
- Difficult fire, it wouldn’t stay lit! What helped was gathering twigs to use in the fire 🪵🔥
- Low 20s are good camp sites for next time. Azalea loop better than Wildcat.
- Slug hole = breathing 🐌
